Description

Excel spreadsheets can be an incredibly powerful tool. Many office-based roles provide dozens of opportunities to employ Excel to express obscure data by the appropriate use of charts.

For the many people who get thrown into the deep end by using Excel without formal training, this practical webinar aims to improve their knowledge of charts and sparklines.

This is the fourth part of 5 popular webinars in 2017 covering smart ways to efficiently use Microsoft Excel. This webinar will provide a deeper look into the most effective ways to create and edit charts to best represent various sets of data.

During the webinar we will run through brief illustrative examples to explain the content. The session will include:

  • Introduction
  • Case Study 1
  • Charts:
    • Appropriate chart choices
    • Using Excel’s in-built tools to create/edit charts quickly
    • Understanding the individual elements of a chart
    • Creating Templates
  • Case Study 1 - Answers
  • Case Study 2
  • Sparklines:
    • Using Excel’s in-built tools to create/edit sparklines quickly
    • Understanding scale on sparklines
  • Case Study 2 - Answers
  • Q&A

Please note that the demonstration will be given using Excel 2013. However, the version of Excel used in the webinar itself is of very limited importance as the points made extend to most versions.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Attendees will gain knowledge how to produce charts and sparklines in Excel which are relevant to the data they are intending to explain.
