Join this practical session to gain unique insights into solving common tax issues through real-life case studies, tailored for advisors with individual clients and small businesses
This webinar offers a different perspective to solving common tax issues. Michelle and Serj will use case studies and work through the following issues, consider the tax impact, provide solution and conclude with legislative references where applicable.
Case study 1 will cover common tax issues with shareholder current accounts, associated persons rules, to charge interest or not on loan advances, debt forgiveness and how distributions to shareholders are taxed. When the case study is complete, the participant will have deeper practical understanding of the issues commonly faced by shareholders in a business structure.
Case study 2 will cover a returning Kiwi who purchases a subdivisible lifestyle block and will work through issues around transitional residency, tax implications on short-term letting, tax issues on subdivisions and common issues to consider when property developing. When the case study is complete, the participant will have a practical understanding of transitional residency and common tax issues arising with property development and those with short-term letting.
