A practical webinar that will look at a number of key provisions under the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988 ("Act")

Topics will include:

  • Personal orders and orders to administer property (s. 10, s.11)
  • Appointment of a Welfare Guardian (s.12)
  • Appointment of a Property Manager (s.31)
  • Court approved wills under s. 54/55 of the Act – the application process
  • Court Appointed counsel's role in the above applications
  • Other key provisions under the Act, including the service requirements under s. 63 of the Act, temporary orders - s. 30 of the Act, audit requirements under s.45 & 46 of the Act, and key schedules of the Act such as schedule 1 – powers of property managers.

This webinar is an introductory webinar designed to introduce attendees to the various types of applications under the Act, including the documentation required for each type of application, the medical evidence required, the court's jurisdiction and the drafting of appropriate orders.

The presenter has been Court Appointed counsel under the Act for a number of years, and will offer her insights into the types of matters Counsel look at when appointed by the court.
